Our wants are just so muddled. I want my children to be obedient. This is a godly ‘want’, it is in line with God’s preceptive will.  BUT it is also a selfish want, because what I really want is peace, or to impress my friends, or to have an uninterrupted conversation, or more sleep….and so as I ask I need to humbly accept and trust God’s decreted will – because he sees their hearts and he sees mine and he sees every day of our lives and he knows how to work to his glory and our highest joy.
